Course Syllabus

Your course syllabus is an essential tool for helping you meet the expectations of your course.

Be sure to find and save your syllabus so you can refer back to it as needed.

Assignments

Some instructors use Blackboard for submitting assignments. Assignment links allow you to upload a completed document or write your assignment directly in the editor.

Click on the name of the assignment to open the assignment menu. If there is not a due date or point value listed in the assignment description, they will be listed when you open the assignment.

Assignment

Once you open the menu, you will see the option to upload a completed file or write your assignment directly.

TIP: Unless directed by your instructor, it is better to upload a completed file; this way you always have a copy of the completed assignment for your own reference or in case of technical difficulty. When you have completed your assignment, be sure to click the Submit button located at the bottom of the screen.

Quizzes and tests

Many instructors will use Blackboard for online quizzes or tests. Your instructor will direct you to the specific requirements for their exams.

Click on the name of the quiz or test to begin. You may have a combination of many question types, including: multiple choice, fill in the blank, true/false, short answer, and essay. Some instructors will allow you to access all questions at once, while others will only show one question at a time. Be mindful of the time allowed to take a quiz or test; Blackboard will show your remaining time at the top of the screen and will provide updates periodically.

When you've completed the test, click Submit at the bottom of the screen. If your test was multiple choice, you may be able to view your grade immediately by clicking OK at the bottom of the screen. If Blackboard indicates all or part of your test needs grading, you will have to wait for your instructor to post the grade.
