Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (Certifiable grades 1-6) for the West Plains Campus Completion Program

The Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with Middle School emphasis offered through the Rural Education Center is a unique teacher preparation program with increased field and clinical experience in the rural school districts of south central Missouri. Students completing this 125 hour program will be certified to teach elementary grades 1-6 and will also be certified to teach middle school communication arts and social studies through grade 9.

Field experience begins early and students will complete more than 300 hours prior to student teaching. Students have the option of taking additional hours and gaining additional certifications which increase employability. Beginning salaries for graduates are in the $25,000 to $30,000 range, depending on the geographic area.

The program is approved by the Missouri State Board of Education, accredited by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), and nationally recognized by the Association of Childhood Education International.
